Horse shoe Bend

Horse shoes bend , as the name suggests,  is a superb example of a “meander” of the Colorado River located near Page , Arizona.

Between six and five million years ago, the region began to be uplifted. This trapped the Colorado River in its bed , and the river rapidly cut downwards to produce a shape of a Horse shoe as we can see today.

After visiting the Antelope Canyon,  we drove a few miles to view the Horse Shoe bend.

Visiting this place was nothing short of breathtaking. Standing at the edge of the iconic natural wonder ( although I have got heights issues ) feels like a slice of heaven .

  1. Did you know that the market we used to go as kids was actually “Horse Shoe Market” and not “Horsho Market”? Exactly for the same reason. The shops were laid out in the shape of a horse shoe. Of course, now it is teeming with all sorts of add on shops
